WEEK 9

TOUCH

This week we experimented with closing a circuit by using our hands as "ground"! This meant the circuit only closed when we held each of the cables that were only attached to the breadboard on one side. This way, the LED only turned on when we touched the ends of the cables, as the circuit was closed. This worked better when we covered the ends in foil and were able to conduct electricity better.

WEEK 9

AR HANDS

This week Karen Ann brought in a portable AR machine that scanned our hands and allowed us to use them to play video games! We played one where we had to tear the petals off a flower, and another where we had to put hats on avatars without accidentally hitting them. This caused many laughs when we inevitably failed the training. It was interesting how sometimes the technology was so correct and precise, which then encouraged our movements to be so as well.

WEEK 9

FINAL PROJECT PLANNING

For the last hour of the tutorial we chatted with Karen Ann and Matilda about our plan for our final project in preparation for our presentation in week 10.

We introduced our idea of a cat monitor that would yell and blow air at the cats when they jumped onto the bench. Karen Ann informed us of the necessary parts to research, including an mp3 and PIR sensor. We then did some preliminary sketches of what the prototype would look like.

HUNT AND GATHER: INESE VEREBE

For hunt and gather this week, I found designer Inese Verebe's "what does this button do?" that creates randomised patterns in p5 when buttons are pressed on the box.
